The Sol Haberman Award was established in 1971 through the generosity of Dr. James T. Wheeler who continued to fund the award for several years until others took over the funding.
The award is given in memory of Dr. Sol Haberman, a pioneer immunohematologist, tireless teacher, researcher and friend.
It is presented to a student in a blood bank specialist program who has written the best competitive essay.
